Kathy Marlor’s Fast Seminars and Fitness Coaching provides personal training, small group personal training, martial arts instruction and self-defense seminars in the St. Petersburg, Florida area.

Kathy, a St. Petersburg native, has over 34 years combined experience in coaching, teaching and training people in sports and self-defense. She is a 4th degree black belt, a FAST Defense instructor, former World Open TKD Fighting Champion, and a certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor with the IFA.

She earned the nickname the “Self-empowement sensei” as she is endlessly encouraging towards others and firmly believes that everyone can achieve their sports and fitness goals if they make a decision to get fired-up and just go for it.

Kathy says “Even though I’ve competed in four different sports, (gymnastics, bodybuilding, martial arts and now figure skating) when I first started, I was pretty much the underdog in all of them! In fact, when I first made the local gymnastics team at age 12, my coaches later admitted that they cheated by raising my scores to get me on the team because they recognized hard work when they saw it. By my first competition, I went from worst-to-first by outscoring everyone on my team and won many competitions.”

“When I began competing in martial arts and earned my black belt in a new speed record for my school (John Graden’s USA Karate), my instructor was quick to point out that I was not a natural and that I worked very hard to get where I was. In fact, in my first year of black belt competition, because of my hard work and great mentors I took 13 first places out of 14 events. Later I went on to win state, national and compete for the USA in two World Championships bringing home first a silver and then a gold in fighting.”

As a sports instructor, Kathy was soon known for working hard with all students and clients- including the ones with less confidence and those lacking natural talent. Her past makes it easy for her to feel empathy towards people who may be out of shape, or frustrated with their current fitness situations.

“I love a good challenge” adds Kathy. “As long as someone has the will, I’m willing to help them find the way. I love people and I love helping them through self-defense, kickboxing, personal training, and sports-specific coaching. It’s really that simple.”
